◆ 6、Flow Control of Molten Steel in Continuous Casting Process

This picture shows a HySerpack unit which is installed on the molten steel control device at JFE Steel Fukuyama Mill.

The viscosity of molten steel at 1600 deg C is lower than that of water. So molten steel is one of the most difficult liquids to handle and its flow control requires very quick response to the fluctuations. HySerpack not only proved that it works as good as the conventional servo-valve system but it reduces power consumption to one-fifties as little as the conventional unit used to consume.   On top of the energy saving, HySerpack is exempt from the applications of any fire laws because it requires very small amount of fluid oil.  This enables HySerpack to use flammable oil as fluid and to be free from any problems related to oil disposal or environmental issues.
