◆ 10. Force Measuring Device – FORCE STMDARD (Load Cell Calibrator)

FORCE STANDARD is the ultra accurate calibrator of load cells, calibrator which measures large force or high thrust produced by, for example but not limited to, rockets engines, missile blasts, etc. The gravity used to be only the standard of measuring force. It is the reasonable consequence to use the weight to compute force but in order to measure several hundreds kN force, the unit has to be gigantic and costly. Also a large size of crane is required to hang a heavy weight to match a large amount of force.
The large unit would be viable for Weights and Measures Inspection Center which is financed and authorized by the Government to calibrate scales or load cells but not for companies or corporations in private sectors. They need a smaller and more inexpensive unit with the same level of accuracy as the weight systems so they can regulate weight measurers quickly and easily.
In response to the request from the measuring device industry, we have developed such a unit that calibrates load cells without the use of weight first time in the world.
The calibrator called “FORCE STANDARD” is based on so-called Built-Up method and is the most accurate and efficient one among the type in the world. One of the units has been installed at Technical Center of Defense Agency and has been showing its superb capability in place of weight models.
This light weight, inexpensive and easy-use calibrator comes true by the development of the hybrid actuator “HySerpack” which functions without the use of any valves but is controlled by torque on servo motor. The torque control on servo motor makes it possible to control extremely accurate hydraulic pressure. Force Standard uses the state-of-the-art technology for measuring force and thrust.
The level of accuracy of the hydraulic system is as below:
